Democratic Social Movement (Δημοκρατικό Κοινωνικό Κίνημα - DIKKI) was
founded in 1995 by a breakaway group of the PASOK. After the moderate initial success, having won 9 seats in
the national legislative election in 1996 and 2 seats in election to
the European Parliament in 1999, the party has failed to gain elected
representation in the succeeding elections. In 2006, the party has
co-operated with the Communist Party of Greece for the local elections. Since 2007, it has participated in the Coalition of the Radical Left (Syriza).
